Insurgent Trailer!!

I don't really have anything of my own to share today, so instead I want to show you this pure awesomeness I just discovered!! The trailer for Insurgent by Veronica Roth!!

EEEEP! Is it possible that I'm MORE excited now?? I guess, because I am! This is one of the best book trailers I've seen. Sometimes I have problems with the voice-overs, because of course the voices are never going to match what you hear in your head. But these were good! And besides that, the trailer flashed nicely through several pivotal-looking scenes in the book, and the whole thing was long enough to be exciting and short enough to not drag on. Seriously, SERIOUSLY awesome!!

Wait. You've read Divergent, right? RIGHT? If you haven't, you absolutely MUST! It's definitely one of my favorite books!

So, what do you think about the trailer? Do you know of any other AWESOME book trailers? Leave me a comment!

(And don't forget to get the Insurgent countdown widget! You can steal it from my sidebar if you like -->)

Waiting on Wednesday: Insurgent

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly event hosted over at Breaking the Spine, spotlighting books that have not yet been released but are being greatly anticipated. Today, my pick under the category "OMGosh I want this book in my hands like twelve seconds ago" is the sequel to the fantastic book Divergent by Veronica Roth: Insurgent.

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

New York Times bestselling author Veronica Roth's much-anticipated second book of the dystopian Divergent series is another intoxicating thrill ride of a story, rich with hallmark twists, heartbreaks, romance, and powerful insights about human nature.
Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh. I LOOOOVED Divergent! That book rocked like...an avalanche. (Get it? An avalanche is like...rocks. I know, I know, I'm great at awful puns. Please forgive me. ;D) If you haven't read Divergent, you have absolutely NO IDEA what you're missing! It had action! Adventure! Bravery! Excitement! AND FOUR! No, silly, not the number, the PERSON! And he's awesome. Don't take my word for it! Read Divergent, and then you'll be going crazy waiting for Insurgent, too! Plus, check out that pretty countdown widget -->

Novels 'n' Notes #2: Numb by Linkin Park

Novels 'n' Notes is a weekly event I created here at Geek Chic to talk about songs that remind me of books.

Numb by Linkin Park: Tris from Divergent by Veronica Roth
This song, to me, sounds like something Tris would say to her parents. I mean, listen to these lyrics:

-"I'm tired of being what you want me to be. Feeling so faithless, lost under the surface. Don't know what you're expecting of me. Put under the pressure of walking in your shoes..."

Even as early as the beginning of Divergent, Tris is feeling like she's always disappointing her parents and even Caleb, struggling to be as selfless and good as them. It's starting to hurt her, which is why she chooses Dauntless over Abnegation.
-"I'm becoming this; all I want to do is be more like me and be less like you."

Becoming this: Becoming Dauntless
More like me: Divergent
Less like you: Abnegation

-"And I know, I may end up failing too. But I know you were just like me with someone disappointed in you."

*Sorta spoilery*
Tris understands that her Divergence may get her killed. But by the end of the book, she also knows that her mother ***spoiler spoiler spoiler*** was Divergent, too.

*Spoiler over*

Anyway, you can listen to Numb below. While you listen, just kind of think about Tris and Divergent, and see if you get what I mean.

Please note that I do not own this song, the lyrics, or anything related to Linkin Park or Numb. I also did not post this video, nor am I affiliated with "acmilan505", who did. *Insert other legal stuff here.*

Thanks for checking out Novels 'n' Notes #2. I hope you enjoyed it!

And tell me, does Numb make you think of Divergent? What other songs make you think of books?

Feel free to create your own NN post on your blog (use the logo above!) and leave me a link to it in the comments! I'd love to check it out.
