Teaser Tuesday: Mirage by Kristi Cook

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play, and the rules are simple:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

I'm doing something a little different today! The teasers I'm posting aren't from my current read, but instead from the not-yet-released Mirage by Kristi Cook! I'm so excited to be a member of the Winterhaven Warriors, the street team for Haven and Mirage. Kristi has been awesome enough to provide us with some teasers to share with you guys!!

I must have dropped the barrier around my thoughts then, because I heard the sharp intake of his breath, felt his fingers dig into my hips as he dragged me backward, pinning me against the wall in the blink of an eye.
     -ARC, Page 36

Ooooh! Doesn't that make the wait for Mirage even more impossible? If you haven't yet, you MUST go read Haven. Seriously, go! Now!!

EEK! It's finally May 1st, release date of about a bajillion awesome books! I only preordered two physical books, SHINE and Insurgent, and if you follow me on Twitter you might have seen me livetweeting the wait for the UPS guy to show up.

Eventually, thankfully, he did.

(SHINE with my other new purchase, INSURGENT!!)

(ZOGAN chilling with Aura ;D)

But anyway, this post is about SHINE, because I'm reading it first. I'm 70-ish percent in, according to Goodreads, and I am LOVING IT! Anyway, here are my teasers :)

1.
"Did you lose someone in the crash?" he asked softly.
-Page 53

2.
     He froze. "Whoops."
     "What did Logan tell you?"
-Page 92
LOVING LOVING LOVING LOVING LOVING THIS BOOK. Those are the only words I can think to describe it!

Seriously, people, go grab yourself a copy! Or if you haven't read SHADE and/or SHIFT, grab those AND SHINE and read them all!!

Teaser Tuesday: New Girl by Paige Harbison

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted over at Should Be Reading. Anyone can play, and the rules are simple:
• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page

I won New Girl by Paige Harbison in a giveaway not long after I started blogging, and I'm so glad I'm finally reading it! I'm not very far in, so these teasers are from pretty early on ;)

(It's not that important, but this isn't the same as my cover. It's really similar, but the small text on mine sweeps directly under the word "girl" and says "Secrets run deep." But whatever.)
1.     I noticed in one picture that she was one of those girls who looked good in a hat. I always look stupid in them.

-Page 20

2.     "Dana?" I said quietly. She looked up, and I withered. "Sorry. Um. Do you think...Should I take down these pictures and the frames and everything?"     She said nothing. This was unnecessarily uncomfortable.

-Page 21

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing why everyone at this school acts like total crazyheads. Because they do.

Today's Teaser comes from SHIFT, the second book in the awesome SHADE series by Jeri Smith-Ready! I just finished my reread today, but since I haven't started a new book yet I'll share from this one!!

(And yes, my Teasers WERE from SHADE last week!)

1.
Zachary was waiting at my locker after class. I was grateful he hadn't tried to talk to me at my desk, where my babbling idiocy would've attracted attention.
-page 90

2.
     "Everything okay?"
"I think so, but he says I need practice driving. Can't imagine why."
-page 91

This book...this SERIES, you guys! I love it so muuuuuch! You must read it. Really.

So what are you reading this week?

1.
"Shaggy?" I sat, blankets knotting around my legs, and reached for the nearest mug of dark liquid. Then I answered my own question with a smirk. "The horse? Creative name."
"His full name is Not as Shaggy as His Father, but that's a mouthful."
     -Page 33

2.
He shook his head. "You're coming home with me, no matter what anyone says."

     -Page 328
2.
Not amused, I glanced over at Fang. He smiled, lighting up our immediate area, and offered me some Cracker Jack.
     -Page 329

So I just feel like I should mention that that first teaser makes sense in context. But it's so much funnier out of context. So I'll leave it like that.

Happy Valentine's Day, everybody! Now, I know that literally last week I shared from the first book in this series, but I just started the second today and it's SO GOOD. So yeah.

1.
"Camelia," he whispered. His voice sounded just like I'd remembered--soft, smooth, deep, able to steal my breath and make my heart pound.
-Page 3

2.
The image of Ben's scar popped into my head. And so I started sculpting it--feeding this weird, insatiable need inside me to form his arm, from his fingertips to just past his elbow.
-Page 2
This book...I'm freaking out. No, not because of creepy stalkers and pyschometry. Because of BEN. I'm gonna strangle that kid. Just saying. READ THIS BOOK. But read Deadly Little Secrets first. It's kinda important. ;)

For my first TT, I'm going to share a couple of lines from Need by Carrie Jones. I just finished reading Need today, and it was REALLY GOOD. Review is coming for that soon.

1.
"I know, it's a dumb word. My mom says it all the time. My mom sent me here, you know. She said that word, woozy."
-Page 118
2.
My eyelids just don't want to be open and I really want them open, because Nick is so cute when he isn't bossing me around.
-Page 119
Those were my random finds, but I also wanted to share a bonus quote with you (not random).
*
"He has a bet with all the other PE teachers in the county. If we don't have the best average time, he has to buy everyone strudel."
     "Strudel?"
Nick raises his hands in the air. "I have no idea."
Anyway, this book is exceedingly awesome, so if you haven't read it, check it out. Also, keep an eye out for my review of Need, coming soon!
